ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Andrew Caillard is a graduate of Roseworthy Agricultural College and a Master of Wine (winning the prestigious Madame Bollinger Medal for excellence in wine tasting). As the co-founder of Langton s, Andrew has been a key figure in shaping Australia s fine wine agenda for 30 years.
Andrew s primary role is Fine Wine Principal of Australian retail group Endeavour Drinks, where he works as a wine advisor, expert and ambassador. Through his varied career he has participated in the fine wine scene as an influential opinion leader and written for many publications, notably Australia s Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine.
He is the author of Penfolds The Rewards of Patience (Editions 3 to 8); Marqués de Riscal A Travel Through Time; Langton s Classification of Australian Wine (Editions 1 to 7) and Imagining Coonawarra The Story of Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon. He co-wrote Australian Wine with Dr Patrick Iland OAM, Dr Peter Dry AM and Peter Gago AC. In 2011 he received the Australian Wine Communicator of the Year Award and was inducted as a Baron of the Barossa.
Andrew chairs Shanghai s Wine 100 competition, judges at the Japan Wine Challenge and participates in the Adelaide Wine Show s provenance prize. He was the associate producer of the AACTA award-winning feature length documentary Red Obsession and Third Man Film s feature documentary Blind Ambition, a true story about four Zimbabwean sommeliers competing in the World Blind Wine Tasting Championship in France.
