Medium-deep crimson. Chinotto, roasted walnut and inky aromas with graphite and cedar notes. Beautifully concentrated with fresh red cherry and blackberry fruits, roasted walnut and tobacco notes, firm-chalky tannins, attractive mid-palate density and mineral length. Leafy vigorous finish gives extra line and length.
70 percent shiraz and 30 percent cabernet sauvignon. 10 percent new American oak.
The fruit is still quite primary and balanced with soft and harmonious tannins. (JR)
Lifted and penetrating wine with redcurrant blackberry fruit and summer pudding notes. Elegant and sleek but still to fill out on the mid-palate. (NB)

Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, walnut and shellac aromas with leafy notes. Generously concentrated with attractive blackberry and panforte flavours. Fine and chalky, almost chocolaty textures and a velvety mid-palate. Integrated mineral acidity. Delicious, with lovely density and energy. Drinking well but will also keep for a while.
70 percent shiraz and 30 percent cabernet sauvignon. 33 percent new American oak.
A powerful array of black fruits in unarmed combat with tannins. (JH)
Absurdly youthful on the nose with incredibly vibrant caramelly berries. A tight palate structure with fine grained dense tannins backed up by sweet fruit. (FW)

Medium-deep crimson. Highly perfumed with dried rose, raspberry, redcurrant, blueberry and black plum aromas and espresso/leafy notes. Dense and inky textured with fresh raspberry, redcurrant and blackberry fruits, a buoyant and smooth mid-palate, fine al dente tannins and a fresh and long acidity. Very attractive and elegantly styled with a salute to the old-fashioned Claret style.
77 percent shiraz and 23 percent cabernet sauvignon. 100 percent seasoned oak.
A very attractive and fleshy wine with plenty of Penfolds proprietary backbone. (JH)
A deep core of dark plums and milk chocolate, cardamom and parsley, attractive fruit sweetness on the palate and slaty tannins. Extraction providing a firm clip on the finish. (NR)

Medium-deep crimson. Fresh blackcurrant and dried leaf aromas with hints of mocha and aniseed. Supple, sweet fruited wine with ample blackcurrant inky flavours, fine sinuous-grainy tannins and a long, integrated acidity. Finishes chalky firm and dry with a kick. A modern Claret style. Very satisfying to drink.
66 percent shiraz and 34 percent cabernet sauvignon. 10 percent new American oak.
Plenty of intense, dense black brambly fruits at its core. A baby showing no sign of 10 years aging. Hard to say when this will reach its peak. (FW)
Composed and surefooted with red and black fruits, cedar, pepper, earth and liquorice. Fleshy on the palate with gritty tannins and assured acidity. (NR)

Deep crimson. Intense choco-berry and herb aromas with liquorice notes. Generously concentrated with dark chocolate and cassis flavours, velvety tannins and attractive mid-palate richness. Finishes chocolaty with a lovely mineral length and fruit persistency. Very Claret-like with a leafy-firm plume. Good cellaring potential.
76 percent shiraz and 24 percent cabernet sauvignon. 10 percent new American oak.

Expressive, exuberant and joyfully fruity on the nose. Ripe, soft and gently spicy on the palate with impressive structure and depth. Flows elegantly and gracefully to the finish. (NB)

Medium-deep crimson. Intense blackberry, liquorice and roasted-walnut aromas. Well-concentrated with plush blackberry and cranberry fruits, fine loose-knit chocolaty tannins, lovely mid-palate density and integrated acidity. Finishes long and sweet. Classic Penfolds style with attractive volume, richness extract and torque. Appealing now but will continue to develop.
83 percent shiraz and 17 percent cabernet sauvignon. 15 percent new American oak.
Vivid primary blue and black fruits, dark chocolate notes and harmonious but slightly grippy tannins. Great potential. (JR)

Developed cassis blackberry fruits, roasted walnut notes, attractive mid-palate generosity and fine-grained tannins are still characteristic of the vintage.
