COMMENTS
Typical of Penfolds House Style, with buoyancy and vigour for immediate drinking or medium-term cellaring. Bottled under screwcap.
We remember mulling over the design of this homage wine to flick the turbo switch, add some
new oak and over-spec this alternative blend to attempt to recreate a 1976!
PETER GAGO, Chief Winemaker
The 2006 Koonunga Hill Seventy-Six Shiraz Cabernet, with its iconic retro packaging, was released as an homage wine to the famous 1976 Koonunga Hill Claret , a wine that captured the imagination of avid Penfolds wine enthusiasts and collectors.
The refined style of the Seventy-Six, aged in a proportion of new oak hogsheads, brings another dimension and complexity to the Koonunga Hill story.
A round come-hither style with harmonious fruit and tannins. JOSH RAYNOLDS
