Bin 23 Pinot Noir is an elegant, lighter bodied inclusion in The Penfolds Collection. Bin 23 derives its name from ‘Cellar 23’ at Magill Estate, where pinot noir barriques are often stored for maturation.
Bin 23 follows in the footsteps of the Penfolds Cellar Reserve Pinot Noir – a wine first made from Adelaide Hills grapes in 1997.
Equally true to both its varietal and the Penfolds House Style, Bin 23 presents a bold, dynamic and light-to-medium bodied red wine upon each release. It is reflective of an evolving style, regional definition and complexities of the many and varied pinot noir clones.
The relationship between Penfolds and cool-climate regions continues to evolve with fruit sourcing shifting each vintage depending on seasonal growing conditions. With each release, Bin 23 re-affirms Penfolds commitment to pedigree fruit that best suits style, and the understanding that nothing stands still. Experimentation continues, and there is more to discover regarding which pinot noir clones perform best in an ever-evolving Australian climate. Our spirit of innovation has driven us to significant progress in this area, allowing us to be at the forefront of crafting stunning expressions of this varietal.
