Grange is arguably Australia’s most celebrated wine and is officially listed as a Heritage Icon of South Australia. Grange boasts an unbroken line of vintages from the experimental 1951 and clearly demonstrates the synergy between Shiraz and the soils and climates of South Australia.
1966 Bin 620 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz is one of the most famous wines of the 1960s. Similar vintage conditions inspired Penfolds to make 2008 Bin 620 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz, an homage wine.
1962 Bin 60A Coonawarra Cabernet Kalimna Shiraz is Penfolds most successful show wine, winning nineteen trophies and thirty-three Gold medals. It is a lasting model of Max Schubert’s ground-breaking winemaking practices. The 1962-like vintage conditions in 2004 inspired the Penfolds winemakers to recreate Max Schubert’s great wine.
First vintaged in 2012 and released in 2015, Max Schubert Cabernet Shiraz is a testament to Penfolds winemaking philosophy and the art of multi-regional blending.
Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz, affectionately known as ‘baby Grange’, is one of Australia’s great cellaring wines. First vintaged in 1960, by the legendary winemaker Max Schubert, Bin 389 exemplifies the judicious Penfolds balance of fruit and oak.
Bin 138 draws its inspiration from the wines of the Southern Rhone. The first vintages (1992-1997) were released as ‘Old Vine Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre’. It was elevated to Bin status for the 1998 vintage.
First vintaged in 2003 in response to an interest in Cabernet Shiraz blends, Bin 8 is a classic Australian wine style that caught the attention of the international wine media.
Bin 2 was first released in 1960, yet was discontinued in Australia in the 1970s at the height of the white wine boom. The original Bin 2 was an ‘Australian Burgundy’ style (despite its Rhône varieties) – typically a soft, medium-bodied wine based on Shiraz.
Since its first vintage in 1976, Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet has established itself as one of Australia's favourite red wines. It’s reputation has been built upon its full-flavoured style, affordable price, its approachability in its youth, with the potential to develop if carefully cellared.
Koonunga Hill Seventy-Six Shiraz Cabernet was first vintaged in 2006, thirty years after the original wine and pays homage to a remarkable, long-lived style. It is a refined version of its stablemate and is made for current drinking, or, like all Koonunga Hill red wines, will also benefit from a few years of cellaring.
