Introducing Penfolds Max’s – a tribute to our first Chief Winemaker Max Schubert, 1948-1975, who dared to revolutionise Australian winemaking. Max’s constant pursuit of excellence paved the way for those that followed and allowed the status and heritage of Penfolds to grow.
Today, we celebrate his bold and passionate spirit with our Max’s Wines. A tribute to one of the greatest Penfolds legends renowned for his innovative spirit, vision and determination as well as his immeasurable influence on the ‘Penfolds House Style’; the ultimate expression of Penfolds time-honoured tradition of sourcing the best fruit from the nest regions to suit the wine style.
From shelf to glass, our Max’s range showcases wines that are charming in character, polished and carry and evenness and gloss. They are contemporary, expressive and vibrant upon release.
These wines are immediately accessible but not without the assurance of more to come. Approachability is guaranteed, so why wait?
At 33, Max Schubert dared to revolutionise Australian winemaking. He brought to life a new wine style and followed his ambition to make “a great wine that Australians would be proud of”.
Penfolds Max’s is where his spirit lives on today. Discover the range, including; chardonnay, shiraz cabernet, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz. Available in select wine retailers.
While seafood is a go-to pairing partner, refined rich dishes work well as a contrasting pairing.
Australian shiraz is typically much riper than European-style Syrah. The sweetness is a big draw with these pairings, and once you bring the structure of the Cabernet into the blend you can be adventurous. Think big flavours and spice. The style acts as a congruent pairing.
True excellence is a constant and endless journey - not a destination.
