"The colour is a vibrant deep purple and there is an utterly gorgeous nose with depth and early complexity. Blackcurrants, black cherries, warm earth, mocha, new leather, violets and spices, this is taut, balanced, seamless and seductive. Arabica coffee bean notes emerge on the palate, along with a hint of a bitter almond character on the finish."

"In good years this wonderful blend from the Barossa excels. This was a very good Barossa vintage, and it contributes to a bright, high energy wine bursting with vibrant red fruit dominated characters. A classic combination and consistently one of the best value wines in the Penfolds portfolio. Has so much happening from the first intake on the nose. Red berry, spices and cracked black pepper with a trace of balsamic. The palate is smooth and seamless integrated with a fine but firm thread of tannin."

2019年的生长期十分干燥炎热。到3月前的年降雨量仅为长期平均值的61%。 春季的温度较往年略有下降，低于0度的低温气流导致了9月4日和9月29日的两场霜冻发生。 夏季气候炎热，十二月和一月的平均温度（最低最高温度）都要比往年高。Kalimna葡萄园经历了31天超过35的温度。 3月也是同样干燥，三月份依然干燥，但天气变得温和使得采收能够有序进行。玛拉南戈产区西拉葡萄的低产量保证了其葡萄酒有着成熟扎实的单宁和饱满的结构感，深邃的色泽和令人惊艳的浓郁风味。
