In an exciting debut, Penfolds has unveiled Transcend by Penfolds, a reimagined wine tasting experience which brings the Penfolds Collection to life in a new and exciting way.
This one-of-a-kind tasting, which kicked off in Melbourne, Sydney and our spiritual home, Magill Estate in Adelaide, offered guests a multi-sensory journey of exploration, combining storytelling, visuals and lighting.
HIGHLIGHTS
In late 2023, more than 2,500 guests attended Transcend by Penfolds events in Melbourne, Sydney and Shanghai, as well as a three-month residency at Magill Estate in South Australia.
Once seated, guests were greeted by the voice of Penfolds Group Winemaker, Steph Dutton, who expertly guided them through each wine featured on the tasting menu.
The narration was accompanied by an ambient soundscape by Australian artist Jake Meadows, perfectly paired with the immersive visuals by Entropico Creative. This intimate tasting showcased new release wines from the Penfolds Collection – including wines from Australia, France and California, and a taste of Penfolds flagship, 2019 Grange.
As the experience reached its crescendo, guests were treated to a newly created ‘Grange Palate Cleanser’ designed to refresh and reinvigorate their palates before tasting the complex aromatics that Grange is famous for.
The palate cleanser, a surprising expression of Penfolds x Thiénot Rosé Champagne, was designed by Magill Estate Restaurant executive chef Scott Huggins in collaboration with Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago.
To complete the journey, guests were escorted back to the Penfolds lounge for a final tasting of the illustrious Bin 707, bringing the experience to a resounding conclusion.
