In 1973, Penfolds crafted an experimental Bin 170 Shiraz sourced entirely from the nineteenth-century Kalimna Vineyard. All grapes were picked from Block 3C – a parcel that is often included in the Grange blend. In 2010, the Penfolds winemakers kept Block 3C separate, realising they had the potential to re-create a classic.
The single vineyard Magill Estate Shiraz is intrinsically linked to Penfolds beginnings. First produced in 1983, Magill Estate Shiraz is a sleek, contemporary wine, yet crafted the old fashioned way in the 170+ year-old winery: hand-picked, vinified in open fermenters and then basket pressed.
RWT Barossa Valley Shiraz was initially developed as a Red Winemaking Trial (RWT). Launched in 2000 with the 1997 vintage, this distinctly modern wine articulates the Barossa terroir with Penfolds signature 'House Style'.
St Henri is a time-honoured and alternative expression of Shiraz. Created in the early 1950s, the first commercial vintage was in 1957. St Henri is rich and plush when young, gaining soft, earthy, mocha-like characters as it ages.
First vintaged in 2008, Bin 150 Marananga Shiraz is a sub-regional expression conceived from the ancient soils of Marananga in the Barossa Valley. A contemporary Shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new.
Created in 1962, Bin 128 is a regional wine that reflects the unique climate and growing conditions of South Australia’s Coonawarra region and the relatively elegant style of cool-climate Shiraz.
Max Schubert would gift his favourite wines to family and friends. This generosity of spirit continues today and is celebrated with this special release of South Australian Shiraz. First vintaged in 2014.
First vintaged in 2013, Max’s Shiraz is a contemporary, fruit-driven South Australian Shiraz. It is generous in flavour and persistent across the palate.
