Penfolds Senior Red Winemaker Steve Lienert has been acknowledged as the ‘Barossa Winemaker of the Year’ by the Barons of the Barossa.
Announced on Sunday February 21st at the annual Declaration of Vintage Ceremony in the Barossa Valley. The event saw the Barons pay tribute to the leading winemaker and vigneron for the year. The Barons of Barossa, a wine fraternity founded in 1975, proudly and enthusiastically support Barossa wine, viticulture, gastronomy, heritage and the arts.
Growing up in the heart of wine country, South Australia, Steve has now been a proud member of the Penfolds team for 38 years. Beginning work in the company’s cellars, Steve embarked on a natural evolution, taking roles in the laboratory before joining the winemaking team where his keen focus and custodianship ensures Penfolds red wines continue to flourish.
