At Penfolds, we’re focused on sourcing the finest grapes from the best winemaking regions around the world. Five years ago, in our 175th year, we unveiled our first collaboration with Champagne Thiénot, a respected player in the world of Champagne.
Now, in our 180th anniversary year, we unveil our latest collaboration, a non-vintage Champagne Cuvée Brut to mark the next exciting chapter in our Champagne story and our winemaking endeavours in France.
Made under the watchful eye of Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago, this Champagne Cuvée Brut NV celebrates the shared mutual style and quality ambitions of Thiénot and Penfolds.
Fruit was sourced from highly regarded vineyards across the Champagne region and the resulting blend is made up of 45% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay. This release has been crafted to the Penfolds House Style.
This is the fifth release in collaboration with family-owned Champagne Thiénot. Following in the footsteps of the single-vineyard Grand Cru 2012, 2013 and 2014 Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs, 2012 Chardonnay Pinot Noir and Non-Vintage Rosé Champagne.
The Champagnes are a collaboration between Peter Gago and Champagne Thiénot Managing Director, Stanislas Thiénot and Chef de Cave, Nicolas Uriel. Style and quality ambitions have been shared and refined across the time they have spent together over the years – in vineyards, in the winery and in Classification tastings.
From England to Australia, and now France. Quite the Penfolds journey. From 1912 to 2024. From Australian Sparkling Wine to Champagne. Quite a leap. Destined to happen.
